Harrington PTA SAGE

Special and Gifted Education

SAGE

The mission of our PTA SAGE Committee is to provide an opportunity for Harrington families and teachers of students who learn differently to share resources and friendship.

SAGE volunteers at both Council and local Chapter PTAs work together to provide education, communication and support for families just like you. And we engage the teachers and administrators along the way.

We encourage you to sign up to receive notices when updates are posted here, and to share with the SAGE committee your interests in special and/or gifted education. Our goal is to serve as a resource to families based on your needs and we welcome any questions, suggestions and feedback you may have for us.

Inclusive Awareness Program

February 11, 2015

During Friendship Week 2015, the Harrington PTA held an Inclusive Awareness program for 2nd through 5th graders. The purpose of the activity was to help raise awareness of the value and importance of inclusion of students with disabilities in school and to promote awareness of disabilities. Students rotated through several activities that allowed them to experience the gifts and needs of an individual with different disabilities (such as dyslexia, speech impediments, etc.)

Our volunteers were so important in helping demonstrate the importance of valuing and showing acceptance and understanding for individuals of all abilities.  Thank you to all who volunteered.
